Teacher Bio

NICOLE FUGO ZIBELMAn, CERTIFIED Yoga Teacher RYT-200

Nicole, aka "Nika", first stepped onto a yoga mat when she was 16 years old curious about yoga & seeking tools to cope with stress.  She began teaching in 2006 after completing her first yoga training in Sivananda Yoga and since that time has logged over 2,000 teaching hours (and countless hours of practice on her own mat).  Her passion to learn and practice yoga has led her around the globe studying many different yoga lineages and with teachers from Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and all the way to India.

Nika has completed three levels of Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga Certifications with Jane Austin (San Fran) and Shiva Rea (LA).   She has been teaching Prenatal & Postnatal yoga since 2009.   Additional studies that have greatly effected her teachings are Restorative Yoga Training with Jillian Pransky, Yoga for the Pelvic Floor with Leslie Howard, and in depth studies with highly skilled Pilates Teachers, Occupational Therapists & Physical Therapists who specialize in working with Pregnant & Postpartum Bodies.

Her classes blend traditional yoga class elements like Yoga Asana (Postures), Breath Work, & Mindfulness Practices with applied practices from Functional Movement & Mobility Work to prevent common aches and pains like back pain, neck pain, wrist pain etc. She also brings voice to important topics not usually taught in your average yoga class: ways to engage your deep core in movement, pelvic floor engagement practices, and adjustments to poses that might be more appropriate for female pelvis/and post babies. And lastly, she’ll make you learn to love (and maybe hate) squats while telling jokes and leaving you with a few catch phrases she hopes stick to you forever.

Nika is a licensed Acupuncturist (with a specialty in Fertility, Pre/Postnatal & Women's Wellness Care) and a mama of two. When she isn’t teaching yoga or poking people with acupuncture needles, she is enjoying the sunshine while gardening, creating art with her kiddos, sharing in song & dance with her community and dreaming about/visiting the jungle beaches of Costa Rica (her second home).

I love The Luma Center! Nika (Nicole Fugo Zibelman) has provided me with very special care as both my acupuncturist and yoga teacher for several years and has helped me greatly through two pregnancies and postpartum recoveries. She is deeply dedicated to her mission of helping women to feel strong, supported and healthy in our minds bodies and hearts.

The Luma Center is an all encompassing community resource that has quickly become indispensable in my life. I refer friends and family to Nicole and the other practitioners often, and can not recommend The Luma Center enough!

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Nicole for both acupuncture and yoga instruction. Both have been fantastic! Nicole brings incredible knowledge, wisdom and compassion to all her healing work. She has a huge “toolkit” which includes acupuncture, yoga, nutrition, western & Chinese herbs, Ayurveda, doula training, and more!
